Senator Monique Limón issued the following statement on the passage of SB 1036 in the Senate Appropriations Committee. This legislation establishes False Advertising Standards on the voluntary carbon offsets market.

“I am grateful that my legislation to set clear standards on the voluntary carbon offsets market has passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee. The evidence is piling up that enforceable standards must be in place to restore confidence in these products.

I remain steadfast in my commitment to ensuring we bring meaning back to ‘going green’ and look forward to working with my colleagues to rein in the junk carbon offsets market.”
