Senator Limón Celebrates a Successful 2023 Legislative Session

(SACRAMENTO) – On Thursday, Senator Monique Limón and the California State Legislature closed out another year of delivering needed funds and passing critical legislation to millions of Californians. Senator Limón championed legislation to help restaurant workers, safeguard human tracking survivors, expand access to health care, support nonprofits and more. Senator Limón released the following statement in regards to her seventh year in the California State Legislature: 

“This legislative session I was honored to advance many pieces of legislation that represent our district while also delivering critical funds to local projects, nonprofits, and local governments. Thank you to the countless constituents, and active Californians for your questions, comments and support this year.” 

Below is a list of legislation authored by Senator Limón that currently sits on the Governor’s desk. The Governor has until October 14th to sign or veto these measures. 

  • SB 702: Requires an annual report on data of individuals appointed by the Governor to allow us to measure and ensure the state's Boards and Commissions are representative of the state. 
  • SB 421: Makes permanent an existing law that prohibits a health plan or health insurer from requiring more than $250 per month in out-of-pocket costs for a 30-day supply of an oral anticancer medication.
  • SB 496: Requires a health plan and health insurance policy (including Medi-Cal) to provide coverage for biomarker testing often used for cancer treatments. 
  • SB 401: Establishes consumer protections for crypto kiosks to reduce fraud and other criminal activity and rein-in high mark-ups on crypto transactions.
  • SB 557: Expedites repayment to nonprofits through the Prompt Payment Act. 
  • SB 476: Requires employers to pay for required safety training.  
  • SB 390: Ensure companies are accurately reflecting their voluntary work to advance the state’s greenhouse gas goals. 
  • SB 727: Protects human trafficking survivors who have been coerced into taking on debt without their consent and prohibits creditors and debt collectors from collecting this debt.
  • SIGNED SB 825: Expands the ability for local agencies to obtain funding for broadband grants. 
  • SB 728: This bill would transition the state to reusable gift cards.
