Governor's Proposed 2022-2023 Budget

Senator Limón’s Statement on the 2022 –2023 California Proposed Budget

(SACRAMENTO)Senator Monique Limón (D-Santa Barbara) released the following statement in response to the 2022- 2023 California Proposed Budget:

I am pleased to see the continued commitments in the Governor’s 2022-23 budget. The additional investments in education, childcare, homelessness, pandemic resources, addressing the drought, and combating climate change are important to my district and the state.

As the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee Chair and a former educator, I applaud the $10 million allocation to the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation for education and outreach assistance to student loan borrowers. In addition, I look forward to working with the Governor and the Legislature on the commitment to a greener future. This is an area I have led in, and I remain committed to working with the Administration to achieve this goal.

Lastly, this initial budget proposes the possibility of California becoming the first state to achieve universal access to healthcare coverage - a critical topic as we continue through the COVID-19 pandemic.”
