Legislative Update

This year Team Limón received the Governor’s signature on 12 bills. From protecting our communities from the dangerous impacts of abandoned and idled oil wells, to ensuring women are paid fairly for their work, to expanding educational opportunities for California kids, to expanding access to mental health services and streamlining access to child care, we represented SD-19 well in Sacramento.

Pay Equity Bill Signing

SD19

I joined the California Legislative Women’s Caucus, Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis, and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom at a bill signing ceremony where Governor Newsom took action on priority legislation to advance women’s equity - including my bill SB 1162 to advance pay equity. Climate Package Bill Signing

SD19

Legislation I authored to protect communities from the impacts of pollution were highlighted at a signing ceremony with Governor Newsom and other leaders in the Legislature. Authored bills signed included:

SB 1137 (Gonzalez & Limón): Establishes a setback distance of 3,200 feet between any new oil well and homes, schools, parks or businesses open to the public. Ensures comprehensive pollution controls for existing oil wells within 3,200 feet of these facilities.

SB 1295: Allows the California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) to collect more funding for remediating deserted wells.

SB 1230: Simplifies and streamlines the process of applying for, receiving, and using state incentives for ZEVs, including allowing for their use at the point-of-sale to meet the needs of low- and moderate-income consumers.

City of Guadalupe Check Presentations

I was honored to present $8 million to the City of Guadalupe for the restoration of the Historic Royal Theatre & the construction of the Escalante Meadows housing development. This funding is critical in advancing the economic development for our community.

In the District:

Goleta Lemon Festival

I had a blast judging the pie eating contest at the Goleta Lemon Festival in September sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. The Lemon Festival is definitely one of my favorite events of the year… but maybe I am biased. #conLimon

Alzheimer’s Walk

SD19

It was my pleasure to join the 2022 West Ventura County Walk to #ENDALZ last month. As the granddaughter of someone impacted by Alzheimer’s I have made it a priority to champion Alzheimer’s and Dementia Awareness to bring needed resources to our communities who need it most.

South Coast Legislative Summit

SD19

I recently gave a legislative update to our nonprofits, business leaders, and local organizations alongside Congressman Carbajal and Supervisor Das Williams this month.

Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) helps homeowners lessen the potential for damage during an earthquake. EBB offers a grant of up to $3,000 toward a seismic retrofit for qualifying older houses.

In addition to the $3,000 grant, they are introducing a new grant specifically for low-income homeowners (income up to $72,080 per household), as funding permits. They have helped thousands of California homeowners complete seismic retrofits!
