SACRAMENTO – Three weeks after a corroded oil pipeline ruptured and sent thousands of gallons of oil pouring into the ocean off Refugio State Beach in Santa Barbara County, Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) joined legislators today from coastal areas around California and Senate leader Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) to announce the creation of the Senate Select Committee on the Refugio Oil Spill, which she will chair.

SACRAMENTO – Two weeks after a ruptured pipeline led to a devastating oil spill along the Santa Barbara County coastline, a bill jointly authored by Senator Mike McGuire (D- Healdsburg) and Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) to ban new offshore oil drilling in a nearby Marine Protected Area in the Santa Barbara Channel known as Tranquillon Ridge passed off the Senate floor. The vote was 21-13.
