SACRAMENTO – A bill by State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) to prohibit non-profit affordable housing projects from being charged certain fees or back taxes passed out of the Senate Governance and Finance Committee today. The vote was 5-0.

SACRAMENTO -- State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) announced today that, due to a lack of support from some of her legislative colleagues in the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee, she is shelving a bill this year to create the nation’s first statewide drug take-back program for prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Jackson plans to introduce a bill tackling this same topic next year.

SACRAMENTO – A bill by State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D- Santa Barbara) to prohibit forced or coerced sterilizations in prisons cleared its first hurdle today, passing out the Senate Health Committee on a unanimous, bipartisan vote. The vote was 9-0.

Program Would Ease California Taxpayer Burdens by Asking Highly Profitable Drug Industry To Share Financial Responsibility

SACRAMENTO – A bill by State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) to create the nation’s first statewide program to dispose of leftover prescription and over-the-counter drugs passed out of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee today. The vote was 5-1.

The bill will be heard next in the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee on April 21.
