VENTURA –  State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) and Assemblymember Das Williams (D-Santa Barbara) will host a Town Hall forum Saturday to help explain how federal health care reform will affect Californians.

The meeting will take place from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, at the WAV Auditorium, 175 S. Ventura Avenue in Ventura.

Jackson will begin the forum with opening remarks.

CARPINTERIA – On Monday, November 11 – Veteran’s Day – the public is invited to join State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) and other state and local officials as they celebrate the unveiling of the Purple Heart Trail along Highway 101 in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

SANTA BARBARA – State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) is pleased to announce that as a result of discussions she’s had with the Department of Industrial Relations, a workers’ compensation office will remain open and staffed up to four days a week in Santa Barbara County.

While details are still being worked out, a Division of Workers’ Compensation satellite office is expected to open up in the city of Santa Barbara at 411 East Canon Perdido by the end of December. The office space is expected to be less costly than the space currently being leased in Goleta.

SACRAMENTO – Governor Jerry Brown has a signed a bill by State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) that protects domestic violence victims from losing their jobs or being discriminated against at work.

SANTA BARBARA – State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) invites the public to join her at an open house at her new Santa Barbara office on Tuesday, October 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The public will have an opportunity to meet Jackson and her staff, learn more about the services and assistance her office can provide to constituents, and learn about the recent legislative session and bills authored by Jackson that have just been signed into law.

SACRAMENTO – Governor Jerry Brown has just signed a bill by State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) to prevent lawsuits and give mobile home residents a voice when their mobile home park is being subdivided and sold.

Existing law allows mobile home park owners to subdivide and sell the individual lots on which homes are placed. This is commonly referred to as a “condo conversion.” But without clarity in current law, condo conversions have commonly left mobile home park residents without a say in the process and cities confused about how to proceed.

SACRAMENTO – Governor Jerry Brown has just signed Senate Bill 770 by State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) to strengthen California’s Paid Family Leave Program by allowing workers to receive benefits while caring for seriously ill grandparents, grandchildren, siblings, and in-laws.

SACRAMENTO – A bill by State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) that would prevent employers from firing or discriminating against an employee who has been a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking has passed off the Senate floor on a bipartisan vote and is now headed to Governor Jerry Brown for approval. The vote was 35-1.
