SACRAMENTO – State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) announced that she will continue as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee under the leadership of new Senate President pro Tem Kevin de León. De León just announced his committee chair appointments today.

CAMARILLO – Tomorrow, State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) will tour the Camarillo Springs neighborhood devastated by storms and recent mudslides.
 
“I want to be able to see the area first-hand and get a better sense of what these residents are dealing with,” Jackson said. “Should there be a need for additional resources to assist these folks and the clean-up effort, I want to be able to go back to Sacramento with the knowledge I need to be the best advocate I can for them.”

SACRAMENTO – State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) has been named a 2014 Leo P. Burke Legislator of the Year by the American Legion, Department of California, for her work authoring a bill to ensure that eligible veterans going through the justice system are steered to Veterans Treatment Courts.
 
Jackson was chosen for the designation for her “leadership, support and dedication to the veterans and service members of California.”

SACRAMENTO – State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) has been elected chair of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus, a bipartisan, bicameral group of female legislators who advocate on behalf of women, children and families in the Legislature. Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) has been elected vice-chair.

SACRAMENTO – Governor Jerry Brown has just signed a bill by State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) introduced in the wake of the Isla Vista rampage this past May.

Senate Bill 505 requires that local law enforcement agencies develop policies encouraging officers to conduct a search of the Department of Justice’s Automated Firearms System, California’s database of gun purchases, prior to conducting a “welfare check” on a person who is potentially a danger to themselves or others.
