(Sacramento) Yesterday, December 3, local educator and former Assemblymember Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) was sworn in as the new Senator from the 19th Senate District by Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye.  The new Senate District 19 incorporates Santa Barbara County and portions of Ventura County, including Oxnard, Port Hueneme and Camarillo.

Upon the occasion of her swearing-in Senator Jackson issued the following statement:   “I am deeply honored and delighted to have been sworn in today as the State Senator for California’s 19th Senate District.   I am looking forward to serving the people of our community as we turn the corner and repair the damage from the deep recession that has severely impacted our state.  I will work hard to bring good-paying jobs to California, reinvest in our public schools and colleges and protect our natural resources from pollution and further degradation.”
